15th September 2008

Got home from hospital today, having gone in on 9th for full node clearance.  2 out of 9 nodes affected.  There is no more treatment to give me for this, as have already had radiotherapy to underarm so again just have to keep an eye.  Hopefully that will be it.
Had 2 drains in after surgery, god they were bloody sore being removed, I actually swore.  Have lots of exercises to do to get full movement back in my arm and have had tips on how to try to avoid getting lymphodema.

5th September 2008

I had Clinic E on 1st and had biopsies done - much pain again!!
I am now off sick from work again.
Had a bone scan on 2nd.
Today was told results of biopsies, it is definately lymph node cancer and will need surgery for full node clearance.
Back on that rollercoaster again, and dreading having to tell Suzie and dad.  I hate having to hurt them again, even tho its not my fault.

27th August 2008

Today was the day I got my ultrasound.  I was at work, but N let me go along for scan.  Was late for it as lost track of time at work as was busy.
Anyway, lay down, and the radiologist was the one who had done my first ultrasound and she remembered me.  She was very thorough, and kept going back to same area.
I asked her outright if she could see anything.  She said yes there was something suspicious, but it would obviously need to be reported by consultant.
I walked by to ward in a daze, and just cried as soon as I saw N.  Had a little bit of time on my own, but wanted to finish my shift.  Dont know how I did it, but thought keeping busy was better for me.
I am so so scared that it has come back, although if it is cancer, I will not be gobsmacked, cos I have always had a feeling th at it would come back.  Not being cynical, just a feeling I have had.  Didnt think it would be this soon though.
Have not told Suzie about this until I am sure.

22nd August 2008

I found lumps under my arm the other day and phoned V.  She arranged for me to come into Clinic to see her and consultant.  V agreed there was something there - will have to wait and see consultant.  S came with me to clinic - good to have her there as am worried.
Saw a consultant who I hadnt seen before, he never even introduced himself, or the student that was with him.  Asked me abruptly what the problem was, had a quick rough feel, and told me he couldnt feel anything, it was too soon after treatment for there to be more cancer, and he was not even going to do an ultrasound - even though it was a one stop clinic.  I was gobsmacked and just looked at S.  Before he left, I told him I was not happy and insisted on at least an ultrasound.  He finally agreed but said it would be done as an out patient, even though they had the facilitites there and then - again i was gobsmacked and mad as hell.
He really was a complete asshole with absoultely no people skills, and should not be seeing someone who has cancer, as he had no bloody compassion what so ever.GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

16th August 2008

Suzie, R and I are just back from a week in Bulgaria.
Had a great time.  It was good to feel normal again and doing normal stuff.  It was fab that R was there to keep Suzie company.  The girls just loved watching the club 18-30 lot parading around the streets chanting songs - they have already started planning going when they are old enough.........................Oh dear!!!!!!!!

6th August 2008

Suzie was on holiday when we did the first climb, so she wanted to do one too, so we did another.  There was Suzie, me, Tasha, Matt and Lewis.
Again the weather was wet and miserable, but we still had a great time, and they all managed it really well.
With the 2 climbs, we managed to raise £1,882.01 for breast cancer campaign.  So between the first climb that N organised, and this, we have so far raised over £2,600- fanbloodytastic.
Wander what I will do next year........................

27th July 2008

To celebrate being in remission, and finishing all treatment, I had decided to organise a sponsored hill climb.  After managing to climb Bennachie, whilst on chemo, I decided to do 3 peaks.  So we started at bottom of Millstone Hill, up there, down the other side, up Bennachie, back down and back up and down Millstone Hill again.  The weather was dreary, wet and very foggy so we all got soaked, but still had a great day.
A HUGE big thank you to all those who again supported me, both with sponsorship, and moreso, by doing the walk.  Hopefully it will be an annual thing.  I do enjoy fundraising.
